Transformers are used to transfer the electric current from one to another without any other direct electrical connection. The electric flow takes place with the help of mutual induction between two windings. It transforms the current without changing its frequency but may vary in voltage.

A single-phase transformer is a type of Power transformer which is used to operate single-phase operating current as the voltage occurs within a unified time phase.

It consists of two windings inner and outer windings. Both coils are wrapped around a standard closed magnetic iron circuit which is mentioned because of the core. The core is made up of many layers of Iron, wrapped together to decrease losses.

These transformers are best suitable for residential and light commercial applications. They are usually used to step down long-distance and localized transmission currents into a low level which is suitable for residency.
